This is a partnership between Guildford Borough Council, Guildford Environmental Forum, Natural Discovery Ltd and Creative Environmental Networks. The Climate Friendly Co. has recently passed the management of the project to Natural Discovery Ltd. The project has been funded through the Energy Saving Trust Innovation Programme guildford greenlife features a high quality brochure and website containing advice on greener living coupled with advertising from suppliers of low carbon ‘eco-products’; from re-useable nappies and composters to electric bikes and green electricity tariffs. Residents who purchase goods and services advertised in the guildford greenlife booklet or off the scheme website will receive a voucher worth £50 off the cost of home energy measures (such as cavity wall and loft insulation, glazing, boilers and central heating and solar energy) through the Council’s established discount scheme, Guildford Housewarmers. The aim of the scheme is to boost take-up of conventional home energy efficiency measures by providing a ‘sales promotion’ incentive. Not only does the scheme encourage more energy efficiency measures, it achieves carbon savings from the ‘incentive products’ and raises awareness of climate change issues too.
